Global search across the places work hides.

Search workspaces, local indexes, Apple Mail, Calendar, and connected file libraries from one Mac command surface.

  • Find project material without switching tools.
  • Narrow results while staying inside the file manager.
  • Keep Spacedrive-backed sources in the same mental model.

Quick Look panel Hover preview Metadata inspector
02

Preview first. Open only when needed.

Quick Look, hover preview, thumbnails, and metadata summaries reduce context switches when you only need to confirm a file.

Quick Look Hover preview Inspector
  • Inspect images, media, documents, and metadata in place.
  • Use the right-side inspector before committing to another app.
  • Move faster through dense folders with fewer interrupts.
Folder comparison product visual with split panes and sync indicators
Matched and missing filters Side-by-side status Sync decisions
03

Compare folders with a clear next move.

See missing and changed items side by side, review text differences, then choose fill, overwrite, or mirror sync intentionally.

Text diff Folder diff Sync choices
  • Compare source files and whole folders.
  • Identify missing items and changed versions before syncing.
  • Keep decisions visible instead of hiding them behind one command.
Network file sources product visual with local folders, drives, servers, and cloud entries
SMB and SFTP entries Cloud folder binding External devices
04

Bring remote sources into the same sidebar.

Local workspaces, external devices, servers, cloud drives, and Spacedrive entries share one predictable navigation model.

SMB/SFTP Cloud drives External devices
  • Model SMB, SFTP, FTP, FTPS, WebDAV, NFS, and AFP.
  • Plan Dropbox, OneDrive, WPS, and Baidu Netdisk workflows.
  • Keep connection status and setup expectations visible.
Workspace and tabs product visual with drag and drop between folders
Tabs and view modes Drag targets Custom folder surfaces
05

Tabs, drag targets, and view modes stay close.

Switch between list, icon, and column views, route files by dragging them to tab targets, and keep related folders open together.

Tabs Drag/drop Column view
  • Open folders in tabs and duplicate useful views.
  • Move a tab into a new window when the task grows.
  • Personalize folder icons, backgrounds, shortcuts, and mouse behavior.
Local-first privacy product visual with folder permissions and keychain-style security
Folder authorization Keychain credentials Local index
06

Local-first by design, explicit by default.

Folder access is authorized intentionally, remembered locally, and network credentials are designed around native Keychain storage.

Permissions Keychain Local index
  • Keep folder permissions visible and recoverable.
  • Use local authorization instead of silent broad access.
  • Keep privacy messaging aligned with real macOS behavior.
File groups product visual with group shelf, hover preview, and add-to-group context menu
Group shelf Context menu add Open-all preview
07

File groups keep related work together.

Groups turn scattered favorites into named collections that can be previewed, edited, and opened without changing the original disk layout.

Group shelf Hover preview Open all
  • Create a group from two or more selected items.
  • Add files or folders to existing groups from the context menu.
  • Use custom icons and availability checks to keep the collection readable.
Operation progress and folder sync product visual with progress charts and clipboard history

Long file work stays visible.

Copy progress, folder sync, and clipboard recovery are presented as active workflows instead of hidden background work.

Progress Sync modes Clipboard
  • See progress for large copy and directory sync operations.
  • Choose fill missing, fill and overwrite, or mirror sync from comparison results.
  • Search and restore recent clipboard content by text, file name, or media type.

Language and shortcuts Mail and Calendar permissions NTFS write guidance
09

Settings, sources, and device recovery are surfaced.

The newer control surfaces make personalization and reliability part of the visible product promise.

Controls Mail and Calendar Device helpers
  • Tune language, shortcuts, mouse actions, hover preview, and clipboard limits.
  • Manage Mail and Calendar search-source permissions explicitly.
  • Guide NTFS write access and authorization recovery without hiding macOS requirements.

Workflow map

From local folder to network source, keep the same mental model.

The sidebar separates workspaces, network files, and external devices; the main canvas stays dedicated to browsing, search, drag and drop, batch actions, and comparison.

Workspace sidebar Batch actions Clipboard history
  • Copy, move, compress, extract, rename, trash, and restore items from one command surface.
  • Use clipboard history for recent text, images, videos, audio, and files when project material moves quickly.
  • Return to trusted locations without rebuilding your workspace every time.
